Writing Ideas

Ask your students to read (and read and read and read) THE USE OF FORCE by William Carlos Williams (www.fti.uab.es/sgolden/docencia/force.htm) and ask them to do some writing. Here are few ideas:

1. Does the doctor do the right thing? Write him a letter telling him what you feel. and why.

2. Rewrite the story from the child's point of view.

3. The doctor gives in to his emotions. Could this happen to someone from a different profession? Choose one of the following and write the story -- . Insurance salesman, teacher, minister, coach, architect.

4. When does force have a use? Create a situation in which force is the only solution.

5. Why is this a story? Explain.
